I thought, Was it because of the SEO? Surely Google or Yahoo would take a few more weeks or months before I’d get seriously indexed. I was right, it wasn’t in the web search results but it was in the Image search results that my minisites ranked highly on…

… I noticed this when I was developing my minisite Dress.PH, it was only a few days old and traffic and clicks were coming in. As I checked the stats, there weren’t much traffic coming from the web search, it was actually coming from images.

Having the right keyword domain name ranks you higher for image searches, I was getting not only PH traffic but worldwide. Images does have lots of searches and those are the type of traffic that you wouldn’t want to ignore. My traffic numbers surged just by image search alone. There are also SEO benefits attached to it, what you need to do is target the right keywords in the image name and title. Just to give an example, Dress.PH got 50+ visitors in a few days it was launched, all coming from image search. And had 7 clicks straight away thanks to the image search.

Not only the traffic benefits that images bring in, it also makes the page more visually appealling and more doesn’t make the user feel like a minisite at all. So when you do make a minisite, make sure to add those images up and ensure that you’ve labelled them right to get the that sweet traffic from search engines.
