I’ve developed all my minisites with WordPress, not just because it was an easy installation, but I just love the fact that there are hundreds or thousands of free WordPress themes available online. These wordpress themes for minisites would’ve costed me thousands of dollars if it was outsourced to someone else, but thanks to open source it’s all free…
… For each of my minisite, I see to it that I customize it depending on the topic that I’m tackling. I make sure that the look, logo and design of the minisite fits the topic well. So it usually takes me a day or two just to find myself a very suitable minisite theme that I could tweak to my liking and customize certain aspects of the theme.
– Get the free wordpress theme that fits your minisite’s topic well –
When you search for free wordpress theme, you’ll be given a huge result page with lots of free WordPress themes. I suggest searching for a keyword based theme for example “free KEYWORD wordpress theme”, so it’ll give you themes that are already designed to fit the certain topic. Also make sure to find only from the reliable sources (like smashing magazines) as their are malicious codes being placed in the theme. The way to do that is not to download directly from the website that displays the themes but go directly to the developer’s website to download. So find the homepage of the theme and download only from the source. Another reliable source of free wordpress themes is WordPress.org itself, just browse in their website and you should find lots available that I’m quite sure that they’ve checked it carefully.
Although there are lots of free wordpress themes available online, it doesn’t mean to say that it’s completely safe. Make sure to check the codes for any weird codes that have numbers and letters mixed into a weird code. WordPress Minisites costs very minimal and you probably don’t even need to code if you find the right theme. I’ll continue to use WordPress for my minisites, I think its the best.

Hi
I also use WordPress, I didn’t know they had a forum possible which I saw on your site..
I just wanted to add an important point I recently learned about minisites.. Don’t link them together.. I was on one host site IP, a couple of my add-on domains I linked interchangabley and they lost their first page rank and even unable to be found listed in Google.. All the other sites I still use in the site IP that I didn’t interlink are still fine.. The solution for me is to get another hosting account dedicated ip for those particular domains.. I think Google counts even innocent reciprocal links on the same host site IP as a link farm, no other way to get back up there..
Thanks and have a good day,
Yelo
@Yelo: Yup, its a plugin. That’s so true, that’s what I did interlink everything together and it was great at first until it suddenly started to lose its ranks. When I removed their interlinks, it went back to normal.
