As domainers, we all want to flip our domain names the soonest time possible and want to sell it at the highest price as we can. There would be occassions where you register your domain names and someone wants to buy it straight away and if the price is right, go ahead and sell. But it’s not really what I recommend, I would suggest holding on to it for a year, here’s why:
See the full potential of your domain names
– Justify your price –
When buyers approach you, they do ask for statistics specifically on traffic. Parking your domain name, doesn’t get you much traffic from search engines. The ‘speculated’ price offered might be way lower than the actual potential of the domain name versus the price (unless its a fad type of domain name, in which case, sell before it is left behind). So do a little development for your domain name and see how you can raise the price with proof.
Higher value after getting indexed in Search Engines
– Higher SEO Higher Traffic, therefore Higher Revenues –
One of the biggest factors why buyers acquire domain names is that because it is generally getting great SEO. It could be a competing website for a certain keyword or a domainer completing a portfolio, SEO raises the value of the domain name. Imagine being able to tell the buyer that you’re number 1 for certain keywords. These will get you multiple times the value of your domain name when you first got it.
Attract other potential buyers with a higher price
– More Buyers sometimes mean higher selling price –
The greatest thing about auctions is that it attracts lots of buyers which compete for one sale. The ideal situation here is to attract enough buyers to get a bidding war, the more they fight for it the higher the price you’ll get. So by keeping it and generating interest in the online community, your target is to get more than 1 buyer to be interested.
