@something: Meta tags doesn't seem to work, but you're right it's about being known and getting great SEO.

That's right, I haven't really targeted Fil as my keyword. But I'm getting there slowly, thanks for pointing that out.

its all about meta tags & getting your site known
just because you put a site up it doesn't earn.
you have to build it and have the bots visit your page daily.
meaning having fresh content all the time.

just like i never heard of techfilipino
as it does not pop up on the searches much.
i always look up stuff in fil.
and just found it cause i was looking for something oddball.

maybe has fresh content randomly but doesn't have what people are searching for.

@Frank: Thanks for dropping by. True, its always been a combination however the domains that can really earn from type-in traffic are all taken. What we're left with in the market are second rate domains, which can only compete with SEO which domain parking can't provide.

I'm actually not convinced that only new users type in domain names directly in the address. In general type-in traffic seems to be fairly steady and I know of experienced users that will employ a combination of search engines and direct navigation.

Beginners often cannot tell the difference between an address bar and the search box and many users (not just beginners), who know the domain name of the site they are looking for, will still type it into a search engine.
