As I have been developing minisites for 7 months now, I’m starting to learn and understand more on what visitors will want and what will more likely make money. It’s been somehow a roller coaster ride having lots of ups and downs lately (in earning money terms), but its been a great teacher in my minisite developments…
… Considering that I’ve been in the minisite business for only 6 months, I have achieved 100 visits a day for some of my minisites and ranks first page in the search results for their keywords. That’s without any advertising or marketing effort and was more of a build and leave type. it’s been a long trial and error process.
– Make Money with Minisites –
When making money is concerned, I tried to focus on PPC where I have started experimenting around and played around with the ads. Some of these techniques that I implemented was using link ad units and image only ads. Increasing CTR was my main concern as the visitors are there but its the conversion that is low. The result was amazing, it has increased my CTR to around 3% (before it was around 1.15%). Now I’m focusing more on Affiliate marketing conversion, and I’m doing my research on different Affiliate networks (I’ll post my experiences here).
What I’ve also learned is that ccTLD minisites don’t really earn as much as the .COM counterpart. This is because you’re limited to your own areas and unless there are a lot of advertisers in that area then it’ll be profitable. But the good thing is that my minisites are there for SEO and it will all be developed into larger websites. These will be great as I could dominate and focus on a market than going scattered going for the gTLD approach.
It’s been a fun experience, lots of lessons learned and I’m becoming more efficient at it.
