WhenInManila: Online Travel / Lifestyle / Food and “Humor” news for the Philippines

2009 has been a very busy year for me, working on my minisites, web 2.0 projects and other website projects. One of the latest startup that we have is WhenInManila.COM, it is the only video travel blog show in the Philippines, as well as, serving “Fake News” or WhenInManila news (Humor)…

… The story revolves around our host, Vince, which is a Filipino-American who just came back from the US and is in the quest of rediscovering the Philippines. There are 2 parts to the website, one which is revolving around travel / activities / food and the other one on the humor news.

What makes WhenInManila travel / activities / food different is that it’s not just the standard travel blog show where everything is scripted, but instead we only do 1 take and includes really funny jokes (you got to see the reaction of the owner of F-Word when Vince asked if F meant ….). What’s also great is that the places we feature are the ones that are very local and are not featured or promoted very much so its only the locals who would know what and where it is.

While the Fake news or WhenInManila News, is a big hit, getting high views (one video getting 8900+ views) considering we’re a startup. It is sort of a Stephen Colbert show that is targeting local and international news, Serious News and Humor, side by side, is proving to be a hit for a lot of people online.

We were also very lucky to get a good reception and support from the blogging community when we were able to get exposure by making some videos for the Philippine Blog Awards. I’m glad to be part of the WhenInManila team, and we’ll be bringing more entertainment, great news and places to go in the Philippines.
