What companies should consider when marketing their products or services online with websites, Multiple domain names…

Years back, when we talk about companies and websites, it was more like come and visit us at “CompanyName.COM”. Our goal back then was to show that we’re in by having a website and that we could be accessed online and somehow on the promotional side of business. So what should companies consider when going marketing their products or services online?…

… Just having a website to promote your business is not enough anymore. Today, everyone has a website, even the mom and pop store around the corner have one. So how can you make a difference? how can you compete with millions of websites? We should tap the power of domain names. Domain names can actually be used to promote your business, products and services.

My Suggestion is to own one memorable domain name, plus your products or services domain names. For example, if you own a shoe shop named Teddy (Example only), and your domain name was “Teddy.COM.PH” (Philippines domain name extension). And your products is formal shoes.

What you want to do is to register / buy / own “FormalShoes.COM.PH”, Place one web page that has a write-up about your formal shoes (i.e. formal shoes have a write-up on information on your formal shoes product line, how nice it is…) and have a link to your main company website.

– Buy your Product’s, Service’s or Brand’s domain name –

So if people were to ask you about your company website you tell them Teddy.COM.PH to avoid misspell or typo. The other websites’ will then attract visitors who are interested about these types of products and introduce and educate them about your brand when they search in search engines. FormalShoes.COM.PH will rank high (exact keywords searched) in the Country version (Philippines) and would get you people who are interested about that particular product or service which can be easily converted to sales.

What you want is to be known in the whole online market that you’re the most known in formal shoes by being in the 1st page of the search results and direct traffic to your website and convert it into sales. With this method, it would be cheaper than advertising offline and it would be more effective and rank fast (within a few weeks to a few months) and is almost guaranteed (target the right keywords) a first page slot. So before you pay that advertisement online or offline, consider that there’s the domain name alternative that is cheaper or could be cheaper in the long run. (See Office.COM or Candy.COM)
