Website Idea: Promote my Local Business, be my promoter

man and woman promoter Website Idea: Promote my Local Business, be my promoterWith the series of lay-offs around the world, more and more people are unemployed. Businesses are left with less and less employees and they would have to cope through multi-tasking. For the businesses and unemployed to meet half-way is to do a result-based scheme. I remembered travel agents and how would they earn money from just bringing the tourists from one establishment to another. The tourists are paying the same (market) price as anyone else and still the travel agents earn. This is through a discount scheme with the establishments wherein the given discount to travel agents (Huge referrals) is kept by travel agents as their profit from taking them to those places. So my idea here is to create a website where offline businesses could do a result-based scheme with the online community. Here’s how it works:

Potential Promoters sign up to the website and complete their profile (has to be as detailed as possible). Promoters could be businesses, individuals or groups of people (as one entity). Being a ‘Promoter’, you should apply to businesses postings to become their promoter. The businesses will screen your profile and see if you are really what they want. So an approval should be given before being able to promote the business.

There would be an online directory, where in, businesses will be posting their offers online (See examples below). Only the areas specified by the business will be shown to users who are in those specific areas. Promoters apply to the businesses and await their approval.

Once the Promoter is approved by the establishments, the Promoter will act as a Free tour guide meeting people up and showing them around the neighborhood. So they would need to gather enough guests who will be willing to spend. They take them to different establishments that he’s been approved at and lets his guests stay / dine / hang out at those places.

Promoters earn whatever the deal was with the businesses. For Example:

  • X% of the bill is given to them
  • Fixed X amount
  • Xdeal – Free Meal when referring 5 people.
  • Referral based 1 person = x amount of cash

Businesses will have a list of their promoters in their dashboard to keep track of whom they approve. They would also have details of the said agreement with different promoters that promote their business. Newsletters would also be there to update promoters of new promotions or things they could refer their customers. There would also be a feedback and rating scheme where the business will rate the promoter and vice versa, this will give more transparent credibility and reputation system for Promoters and businesses alike. The business will then pay the promoter by the end of the day or the next day of the said deal. The Promoter must get a copy of the receipts of the ‘referred customer’, to have proof of referral. Payment could be done from paypal, cash, or cheque.

Revenues could be earned through membership of businesses through the website (when enough traffic is generated). Advertising of local establishments (Promoters are also potential customers, and great for word of mouth).

Unclear Thoughts:

  • If promoter promotes online and customer goes to establishment without informing or taking the tour of the Promoter. Would there be a way for them to track it?
  • If conflict was to arise, is there a conflict resolution center?
  • Is there a way to track the total earnings of Promoters? (for self record purposes and website records)

What do you guys think?
