TwishMa.SH – Twitter Interesting Website developed on a .SH cctld

twishmash website uk news 300x57 TwishMa.SH Twitter Interesting Website developed on a .SH cctldI was looking around for interesting websites when I stumbled upon quite a popular web 2.0 website about Twitter. Twitter has been one of the hottest growing concept after Facebook and it seems to be growing a lot of startups. This website was called TwishMash, and what was interesting was that it aggregates the world’s most popular Twitter Links and tags. Here’s what I thought of it…

… What’s really great about the website was that it was an international one, being able to aggregate data from different Tweets Worldwide, as well as, country specific tweets. It’s also capable of aggregating tweets into different types like News, Images and Videos.

What’s really nice though is that there’s a feature called “Live”. Live is supposedly TwishMa.SH’s live twitter update, you can even choose to filter it by country. This is the time when I realized how real time update sucks, it was going so fast you can’t hardly read a single Tweet. There’s also a ranking feature which features their top twitter users, but it doesn’t seem to work on other accounts except the ones that they’ve listed.

What I really like about this though is the TwishMash design of the User Interface is nice and simple. It is basically cut down to the base minimum which makes it load fast and smoothly. However, there’s just one thing that bugs me, which is why they used the domain extension .SH? I’ve researched and found that they own the .COM version and the .SH costs $100 a year (1st year and 50% after) to register (that’s really high). I guess this can only be answered by the owner of the website.

But overall, I like the concept and the way they designed TwishMash. However, isn’t it another Tweetmeme? My point is what makes it different from other news aggregators for Twitter? I still don’t see it. The domain also bugs me a little bit, on why they’d pay for such an expensive domain if they got the .COM? I just hope they become successful by having something more creative and innovative than just combining different concepts together.
