Stimator: Calculate your website’s worth ( Domain Valuation )

Stimator.com a new website catered to us internet people on calculating how much our domain‘s worth. There are other websites that calculate how much your website’s worth but most of them are quite non-transparent when it comes to how they come up with a figure for you website. What I found amazing is the factors that affect a domain’s value. This one is calculated with certain factors:

 

1. [TLD] Whether your domain is a Top-level domain, like .com will be higher than .info or .ph. Top Level Domains (.com .net) are given much higher value

 

2. [Financial] Using Yahoo Finance, they’ll look at the market on whether or not investors are willing to invest at this moment.

 

3. [Real Sells] it’s by using information on websites that has been sold. According to them it is How much? motivation factors? overall appreciation?

 

4. [Web Factors] So this is relying on Stimulator’s database, the more websites are stored in their database the more they could compare and value.

 

5. [Estimation] “Economic Value” which are Niche markets, advertising earnings, affiliation earnings and services associated to the website itself are taken into account

 

6. [Observations]

• When you type your URL www and without www will make some difference
• Domain or Subdomain
• Site Performance (Similar to Page Ranks)
• Https:// not available and Http:// only when it’s available

I like the concept as it gives us domain owners a benchmark to value our website. However the value will obviously depend on their database, the larger the database the more accurate the value will be. And when I tried searching for my domain www.techfilipino.com, the site returned the result that my site is non-existent. Overall, it’s great to have a free service on domain valuation, I could just hope that they could enlarge their database one day and provide better accurate results.
