Having invested in tons of domain names, like what most domainers want, I’d like to sell my domain names at multiple times I got it for. However, like most domainers’ disease, you’d like it so much that you’re hesitant in selling. So it leads me down to the question, what are the factors one should consider when selling their domain names?…
Domain Name Development
– Are you Planning to develop your domain name? –
Being a Developer myself, one thing that stopped me was that I wanted to develop these premium and brandable domain names. So consider how you can develop these domain names, try to think the reality of your plan. Plan, meaning your time, money and other resources. If you think it is possible, then hold on to your domain name and maybe you could actually earn more later on with your development than having that quick sale.
Revenues
– How much is your domain name earning? –
Did you park or develop your domain name? Is your domain name generating revenues? These factors are very important, domainers generally value their domain names (as a guideline) by:
“(1 year revenue) Multiplied by (8 to 20)”
If you believe that you could increase your revenues, it might be worth keeping your domain name as you could earn the selling cost as well as continue earning from it in the future. But if you do find that you’re stuck, then letting go of it might be the best option.
Who and Where to Sell
– Who? Where? How much? –
When thinking about who and where to sell our domain names, it all comes down to who can pay the highest price. There are tons of places you can sell at like including your domain names in domain name auctions, brokers, or directly looking for buyers (thru listing your domain names for sale in your website or contacting domainers). I found that the best way for me to sell my domain names was thru forums, so I’ve joined a lot of forums focusing on domain names. Really research different selling avenues and find the best and reliable avenue for you to liquidate your domain names.
