sedo Sedo: Domain Name Marketplace, Buy Sell Park

When it comes to Domain Name Market, One of the biggest names in the industry is Sedo. Being a domain name investor, monetizing a domain name is quite important and there are many ways in doing so. One way is thru Sedo, which is most popular for its Domain name parking, buying and selling. What’s great about it…

… is that it has a huge number of visitors who come regularly either to park, buy or sell their domain names. Domain names are also classified into categories which is easier to navigate. What’s also great is that it offers services that compliment each other:

When you’re interested in ‘buying domain names’, it gives you a list of domain names alongside their own appraisal, search thru auctions and listings, Domain name Brokerage (let them buy the Domain name from the owner for you), setup a domain name watchlist (updates you if there’s a new domain that fits your keyword), and register a new domain name. When you’re interested in ’selling domain names’, you also get to place it in auctions and listings, get appraisal, and have domain name brokers sell for you.

Sedo has been known to sell great domain names with high figure sums. Price rates are: 10% commission for each domain name they sold or bought (by other members). Domain name brokerage service is charged at base price of $69. Domain name trasfers are charged at 3% of sale price. Domain name and website appraisal (Valuation) is starting from $29. and to showcase your domain (advertised at home page) is at $39.

I’ve used Sedo’s services before in Parking, it didn’t yield much results but that might be because I’m not using keyword rich Domain names but more of short easy to remember domain names. I haven’t tried buying or selling in Sedo, but it has won several awards for it and seems to do well in this field.

Overall, I like the idea of having a website dedicated in making money out of domain names. Domain names are certainly becoming a hot property (3 character domain names are almost non-existent or sold at ridiculously high prices) for a lot of investors and big money have been and will be made from it. But I still believe in Bido’s way of Social Auction, it gives buyers and sellers an overview of what people think of the domain name and allows the price to be dictated by the community. It only features one domain per day, which gives you time to think and consider the domain name before purchasing.
