Minisites have always been my favorite domain name development project. The main goal of a minisite is to gather enough revenues to pay for its registration and renewal fees and, of course, profit. The biggest question in everyone’s heads is how long does it take for me to get a Return on Investment (ROI) for a .COM minisite?…
… The way I approach my minisites is by developing it in Wordpress and adding unique contents and design to it. So a certain topic in my minisite looks very different to the next, which makes no 2 minisites looking alike. It takes a good week or 2 for me to complete a certain minisite with around 20 pages of unique contents.
– Wordpress is my Favorite Minisite CMS –
What I found is that Hand registered .COM has the fastest Return of investment out of other domain name extensions that I’ve added a minisite on. It is probably because of the price in GoDaddy $7.17 with certain coupon codes, which makes it inexpensive and easier to recoup the costs. The benefit of a .COM is that it reaches the global market (as opposed to a ccTLD, which is local), which increases its chances of being searched. The Cost per Click (CPC) is also higher, that means that people from other countries (especially US) pay higher costs for each click in your minisites Pay per click (PPC) program.
In a matter of 2 months and a week, I was able to get return on investment on my .COM minisite. So everything else that I’ve earned after are profits which could be used on another domain name investment. Minisites are profitable, and what’s even better is that it’ll pick up higher PR in the next years and will get more traffic from search engines, therefore higher earnings each year.
Note: My domain names were not marketed or any link building. It was simply relying on contents and submitted to all search engines. All revenues are generated only thru PPC.
