Posse: Gig Promoters that taps Social Media to promote

posselogo Posse: Gig Promoters that taps Social Media to promote Don’t we all love gigs? In blogs and social networks, you’ll notice a lot of people discussing about it, inviting friends / family, where they went and how their experiences were at that time. So here comes a proper website to help promote events using the power of social media (in Australia only), and it’s called Posse. What’s great about it…

… is that its a free platform for big or small gigs to promote themselves and sell tickets using Posse’s platform. What’s really great is that internet users can become Posse Agents, where they are able to set up their own gig ticket store.

Posse Agents can then make money out of selling tickets to their friends / family or strangers. They earn 5% commission of the tickets that they were able to sell. They do it by giving you links or advertising materials that you could use to insert in your own Social Media (Twitter, MySpace, Facebook etc.) to promote to your networks. The interface is nice and simple yet stylish and elegant, it is minimalist and magazine feel combined.

Overall, I like the concept of advertising within our own networks, it’s proven to be more effective and is less costly to reach the target market (as they know each other already). However, at 5% commission, it might not be considered as a source of livelihood and might just attract teens to join as agents (14 years old and above allowed). They’ve tapped the best advertising medium, and they’ve used music as their platform (high interest). They’re definitely on the right track, but they’ll need more promoting and convincing to get the ball really rolling. This is the new trend in advertising and they’re one of the first to use that.
