What’s really interesting lately is what I’ve been noticing with Filipino Companies’ domain names, they suddenly start to make sense. Instead of going with the gTLD (Global Top Level Domain Names), like .COM, they’ve started to open up for our local ccTLD (Country Code Top level Domain Names), which is the .PH or .COM.PH. Finally their domain names don’t have the dash ‘ – ’ or numbers, it’s about time they learned to love our own PH domain names…
… Filipino companies are now able to display their domain names in their advertising materials that is clear and is not tough to remember, it is normally the same as their brand names. I’m sure that these companies are now enjoying the benefits of having a ccTLD and is getting a better rate of traffic that if they went for the gTLD.
– PH domain names are on the rise –
What’s also been encouraging is the rise of the .PH (instead of .COM.PH), more and more people are finally open to the shorter version. It is all about recall, if people can remember your domain name then it has served its purpose. As I’ve posted before, the official statement of DotPH (Seller of PH Domain Names), that .PH is expected to overtake .COM.PH and is already exceeding the traffic of .COM.PH during their test these July 2009.
I’ve been a domain name investor for a while now and I have heavily invested my money in PH Domain Names. It’s not the easiest path to take, as it is still on the rise, but, nonetheless a huge opportunity that isn’t tapped. Local Filipino Companies are still yet to see the power of generic domain names, which is widely open for everyone for the taking. PH Domain Names are on the rise, Filipinos are starting to support our own.
