Philippines and Web 2.0: Startups and current websites, where you at?

philippinesweb20websites Philippines and Web 2.0: Startups and current websites, where you at?I’ve always been a fan of Web 2.0, I believe it’s one of the biggest thing that changed the whole internet landscape (after the Internet bubble burst in 2001). The Philippines has always been known for outsourcing in the I.T. industry, but what I’m really interested is to find web 2.0 companies that exists here. There’s a lot of opportunity in the web sector in the Philippines and it just needs a good push to make it work. I’m looking for interesting web 2.0 startups in the Philippines, to show the world of our internet developments…

… We, Filipinos, are tech savvy people, the survival of Friendster in the social networking market was pretty much coming from millions of Filipinos who use it everyday. eBay (eBay.ph) has even moved quickly here in the Philippines, providing us a platform to buy, sell and auction things to Filipinos and the world (Here are some interesting .PH websites). We’re expected to increase our internet users to 53 million + users in 2010 and will continue to increase and grow as internet access becomes wireless and affordable to the masses.

This is why, I’m so eager to see more web 2.0 startups to start in the Philippines. Everyday, I see Filipino Websites upgrade and improve but the technology still seems outdated. The Functionality is already web 2.0 but the design is so web 1.0 that nobody feels like using or checking the website out. (Web 2.0 Design Standards)

I would like to see unity between us, Filipinos, maybe it’s about time we give outsourcing a rest and do something that would benefit yourselves and the Philippines. Here we can grow, internet brands that could cross borders and be known throughout the world, all we got to do is to support and help each other. I’ve launched a few web 2.0 startups and is continuing to develop and hopefully release other websites before the end of this year. If you’re looking for web 2.0 ideas, I do have some more web 2.0 website ideas here.
