With stiff competition in the mobile phone market, Palm has become more innovative and creative with their phones. With the huge popularity and success of the Iphone, Palm wants a piece of the cake, and their weapon? The Palm Pre. The last Palm I saw was the Treo and didn’t liked it when it came out, but the Pre is definitely something else…

– Palm Pre –

Palm Pre looks like an IPhone (but more rounded) with an attached QWERTY keyboard. One thing I personally didn’t like about the IPhone is only having a touchscreen feature, although it makes it really really sleek, I make a lot of mistakes on text messaging (or typing in general) where Palm Pre has answered. The new WebOS of Palm, featuring ‘Gestures‘ which allows users to control beyond the screen (e.g. Quitting applications by swiping up). With a “Wireless” charger, that charges when placed on the charger called “Touchstone”.
I wasn’t really interested with all the fuzz on IPhone, Android or certain Iphone killers, but this one got my interest. I’m currently using e71 and am pretty happy with the features that I get with it, however Palm Pre might just offer me something more. Sleek design with a good battery life is definitely a first in the mobile phone market that I’ve seen and this is what I find most important on mobile phones. With a web-OS that is developer friendly, it’s going to attract more application developers to develop really great apps for users. It really sounds promising, I can’t wait to get one myself. The release date is said to be the 2nd half of 2009.
