I’ve been eagerly awaiting for the Palm Pre to be released here in the Philippines, it’s been released in the U.S. a few months back but still no news here. Anyways, while we’re all thinking about PRE, Palm is soon going to release a new phone called Palm Pixi. I actually really like it over PRE until…
– Palm Pixi –
… I found out that Pixi has no WIFI, which really was a shame as that was what WebOS was all about isn’t it? I mean there’s HSDPA or 3G but nothing but with free WIFI access all over that would’ve made a big difference. But aside from that I love that it has the full keyboard without sliding. It is also touchscreen and has all the same features as you would have with Palm Pre (other than the Wifi). But what’s really very interesting about this phone is that it can be personalized by changing back covers that are designed by different artists. It is also slightly thinner than the Palm Pre which fits nicely in our pockets.

Palm Pixi costs about $149 in the U.S. which is $50 cheaper than Palm Pre. After seeing this I’m more interested with the design that Palm Pixi has over Palm Pre (maybe because I use e71 which has a similar design), but I’m sure later on Palm is going to release a Pixi with Wifi. I think Palm is in a good direction with the new phones, it’s been talked about a lot. The only problem is the release of the phone here in Asia is freakishly slow, and by the time it gets here, it’s already outdated. Good work Palm with Pixi, I do hope you could do a faster release for us here in Asia.
