MyWebsiteWorth.com and WebsiteValueCalculator are websites that I found while searching for domain valuations online. I’m a domain investor myself and would like to know how much my domains are worth now. It’s interesting how different Domain name valuation websites have different criteria for measuring how much the domain name is worth. What’s interesting about these websites…

MyWebsiteWorth calculates your domain name’s value by calculating your traffic. Traffic that is measured by the following:

  • Alexa Ranking
  • Compete Rank
  • Google PageRank
  • Visits
  • Pages / Visit
  • People

This is great when you would like to value your website by the traffic you generate, however there are other factors like being a Top level domain name, how many characters (in the domain name), etc., which the website doesn’t take into account. TechFilipino was valued at $95 (as of March 4, 2009) with 2204 visits taken into account. I’ve tried contacting the owner thru the contact page and tried to look at the about page, but noticed that the links were dead. It seems that the website is built for SEO purposes and the way for them to monetize is thru the marquee on the mid section of the website.

WebsiteValueCalculator also calculates the domain name value by the traffic but are very specific on two criteria:

  • Alexa Rank
  • Google PageRank

When I searched for the value of TechFilipino, it gave me a value of $78 (as of March 4, 2009) which is reasonable. But I then tried valuing my other domains which I haven’t developed (no traffics or links) and it still provided me the same amount. My guess is that it only calculates by Google Pagerank, as when I searched for more popular domains it gave me a different value. There are recommendations on how you could monetize your website more on the bottom of the results which are linked to their affiliate accounts, and adverts that links to their other affiliate marketing accounts and to the founders own websites (MyVouchercodes). It’s a great way for them to drive traffic to their own websites.

Overall, it’s great to consult lots of domain valuations so you could have a more general view how how your domain names are doing. I’ve covered another domain name valuation which I find more accurate called Stimator.

Hi! I have found another website traffic and value estimator site. I’m talking about http://www.estimix.com . The estimation provided by estimix is the result of a complex analysis based on factors like: the age of the website, the demographic structure of the traffic, the countries where the website is popular and sources of the traffic.

I have found a service which gives best estimate for valuation of any site, its:
    http://www.webpageoutlook.com

  • http://www.websitevaluebot.com Mike

Thanks for the valuable info, when valuating a website you should also consider http://www.websitevaluebot.com as it will give you a value based on every aspect of the fundamentals of a website except for revenue which is the only real way to work out a websites value.

Monthly revenue times 6-12 depending on brand name, age and content is the true website market value which is why no website estimator online is accurate.

Well, this evalutators are good for an overall view of websites, specially for analyzing the competition. But profits depends a lot on the website biz. You can have low traffic but sell something really good and expensive which means your website will worth a lot because of your sales. Estimators usually estimate how much you could get with ads with a given amount of traffic, which is the main source of income of most websites on the internet including big boys like Yahoo.

    Anyway I preffer using http://www.statshow.com, i think it’s a bit more complete.

Some of these take domain age to be one of the most important factors. I can understand why they do this because I believe search engines also have some sort of “trust factor” built into their ranking algorithm. This prevents fly by night sites from bucking the system but it also means that new sites will have to struggle and wait a bit.
