Things are getting more interesting with Facebook and MySpace with their battle to dominate the Online Social Networking Market. The fight between Facebook and MySpace is now going Mobile. Usually dominated by text, Facebook and MySpace mobile websites is in really basic mode; However with newer and more technologically advanced phones coming out, more improvements could be done to dominate the mobile market and MySpace just announced (TechCrunch) to do just that.
MySpace plans to relaunch their wap sites for non-smart phones and plans to create Applications for the Palm Pre, New Nokia Phones, BlackBerrys, IPhone and even on Android (which they were the first social network application available). With an increase of 16 million users within a year, MySpace have seen the potential in this market. I believe the more powerful our Mobile Phones become the more we would use it to surf the web. The war in the web might have just slowed down, and both Social Networking giants are preparing to wage another war on the mobile platform.
I’m looking forward to the result of this, as when two giants fight it out it’s us who benefits and they’re bound to create innovations that would definitely change the way we see Social Networking. Very interesting applications are going to be created with GPS features, Bluetooth, wifi and GSM, I cannot imagine what kind of power these gadgets will have combined with Social Network features. I believe this could be the new era for Social Networks, Social Network 3.0?
