I wasn’t the lucky ones that have acquired gTLD geo domains, but it doesn’t mean to say that its too late to start getting into one. I’ve recently did some study on how good investing in geo domains are by getting myself one a .COM geo domain that is specific to a long street (and with high traffic street) in the Philippines…
… Domainers have been speaking highly of geo domains and I wanted to know what it was all about so I’ve invested in QuezonAvenue.COM as a way for me to research whether or not geo domains are for me. Here’s how my research went:
– QuezonAvenue.COM –
What I did for QuezonAvenue.COM (with 590 exact searches each month) was I built a minisite around it. It was more of a directory that shows different establishments that Quezon Avenue had. I’ve added maps to help people find the places they wanted to find directions or contact details for.
What was interesting was that a lot of people were searching for the establishments and the traffic was picking up pretty high (consistent 15 visitors average a day) even if it was only a 2 months down the line. Click through rate was also pretty high with the PPC ads and some days are getting as high as 21%.
This is just a minisite we’re talking about, imagine if it was developed into a portal.. or if it was a highly searched area keyword then things could be better and higher. I believe geodomains are the ones that wouldn’t fade and will always be searched for (Not unless places change their names..). I’ll try to find more geodomains to invest in the future, it’s definitely a great investment for me.
