Mployr.com is a new website that focuses on Jobs. These jobs are in the area of new media, IT and Engineering; and is only available for 6 different countries including the US, Canada, UK, Philippines, India and Australia (As of February 27, 2009). They’ve hit a very good niche market in 3 industries which majority are tech savvy and are looking for jobs (especially this recession) and their customers include SUN microsystems, DELL, SmashLabs etc. What makes Mployr different from other Job websites (like monster, jobstreet, etc.) is that it’s “Free” both to post and to apply, which they used to explain why their website was “Recession proof”. What I like about it…
… is that it has an RSS feature, which instead of going to the website, I could save the RSS and read it with my RSS reader. The User Interface as well is very easy to understand and minimalist that a normal user could use. There’s also a Widget feature which you can embed the jobs available in their website to update your visitors. Another great feature of this website is that it links itself with other job websites that posts the jobs that they do and the all RSS it to their readers, so you don’t have to go through all the websites to check one job position as they do all the hard work for you.
The best for most employers is the ability to post a job post without having an account. Now certain people won’t agree with this, but I for one, believe that this is the future. There’s no need for a user to be tied down to use certain services and we all need a break from registrations that will take ages to complete. I believe that the community and the administrators can police itself.
Overall, I believe in Free business model especially in times of recession. There maybe more users that spend more time online, but they have less money to spend and therefore the free business model, at this time, could really go far. Whether or not they could profit is another question. I Loved the website and it’s integration with technology and I hope it could expand to different countries soon.
