Most Minisites’ Content are Crap – Domain Development

minisite content writing Most Minisites Content are Crap Domain DevelopmentMinisites have been a popular choice of development for a lot of domainers, it doesn’t require too much programming or technical skills and you could focus on the content. But looking around the web, I’ve noticed only a few minisites actually have a useful content, most are just a Search Engine pleaser that just targets several keywords without making much sense.

When I first started in the world of domain development, I explored a lot on minisites as it is something easy for me to do. Honestly, most of what I’ve written for my minisites are crap, bounce rates are as high as 80%. Revenues from PPC was high when it first started but slowly declines over time as Search Engines disregard the minisite.

What I learned in writing Minisite Contents

What I learned is that the content that you provide must somehow be useful and can reach out to readers. The content needs to be fresh and unique and not just something you ripped out of wikipedia. I made some minisites by ripping bits and pieces from Wikipedia, and guess what, it ranked well at first but now is non existent. When I had a professional write for my other minisites, it didn’t rank too well at first but as time went by, it got higher and higher that it is starting to amass good traffic to the minisite. It prompted me to add new contents to the site as it continues to do well.

So next time when you do develop minisites, do make sure that what you write is something that not only search engines can appreciate, but something that readers will love. End of the day people, its the people that makes the traffic numbers and not search engines. Search Engines simply directs them to what they believe are quality contents.
