Ever since Manny Pacman Pacquiao’s success in boxing, he’s almost considered as a national hero and treasure of the Philippines. With his recent win against Cotto, he has broken the boxing history record by winning 7 titles in 7 weight divisions. Pacquiao should be an inspiration to us internet entrepreneurs, web developers and domainers…
… Pacquiao has already earned the love and respect of the Filipino people. Now take note, he actually has earned it and not just sprung out of nowhere. Congratulations to Pacquiao for winning the Cotto fight, it was entertaining and inspiring. He should be an inspiration to all of us, here are some lessons that I’ve picked up from him as an example:
Eyes on the Prize
When Pacquiao fought with different fighters, he wasn’t always the winning fighter at each round. There are some where he was badly beaten and knocked out, but did he stop and wait for the 10 counts? No, he stood up and fought again and won the fight. So for us internet entrepreneurs, there will be times where we’ll be knocked off our feet but we got to remain strong, get back up and keep our eyes on the Prize. You don’t know when that lucky break will come so be patient and it’ll come.
Speed and Power
Pacquiao’s Speed and power are his best weapons in the ring, but you never hear one without the other. Winning in the game requires that he trains for both speed and power to make those lightning fast punches that actually hurts the opponents. For us Internet Entrepreneurs, we need to be able to develop fast and deliver to our visitors / customers a powerful system that they need. Developing fast with a useless system will just not attract users, while just a powerful system that is outdated won’t sell either.
Think you’re the underdog
One of Pacquiao’s mental training is to believe that he’s the underdog. You’ve got to believe that you’re up against someone who’s better, faster and stronger than you are so that you can prepare for it more than be relaxed as the leader. It’s normally our ego that will get us overtaken (Google vs. Microsoft).
