Jeremy Lin is perhaps one of the biggest names that has ever came up in the world of Basketball these days (especially for, us, Asians). He has helped the New York Knicks win 3 games without their superstars, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. Jeremy Lin was just so unexpected and has surprised a lot of people…
Jeremy Lin’s Rise
Aside from Basketball, what makes Jeremy Lin very special is that this guy has a degree in Economics at Harvard university (WOW!). Being smart and being able to play basketball at the top level makes this guy ultra special. It was never easy for him to get to where he is today, he was undrafted in the 2010 NBA drafts. Later on, after joining some predraft workouts, he received offers from several teams (Mavericks, Lakers..) but went with his childhood favorite, the Golden State Warriors.
Jeremy Lin didn’t have a smooth time in Golden State Warriors and was frequently assigned to the D-League, and was later waived (after needing to free up the salary cap to get another player). New York Knicks later signed him to the team as one of their bench players. On February 4, 2012, he made history by showing the world what he can do, scoring 25 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and 7 assists.
I must say, Jeremy Lin became one of my favorite players in the NBA. He plays a very simple yet effective game of Basketball, and the best part is that he gets the WINS! It must’ve been difficult being an Asian and being “unseen” to coaches and scouts in the US, but he’s finally there and on top of the league. If there was an Asian Basketball star we all want to be, it would be Jeremy Lin, you’re the MAN!
Here are some of Jeremy Lin’s Highlights in the Recent NBA games:
But it is this really sick dunk that he did (after crossing over on John Wall!)
