How long before .PH domain names’ values / worth go up?

ccTLD PH Domain NamesEveryone anticipates ccTLDs to rule the world, as most good TLDs are already taken. Now this has happened to domain names like .CO.UK or .DE, but when is the same going to be said to others? To be more specific, the .PH Domain names. I’ve invested heavily into the .PH domain names, and the question is really “How long before .PH domain names’ values or worth would go up?

.PH Domain Names have so many premium generic domain names available, despite the fact that a huge amount have been snapped up by domainers. Looking at the level that it is at, the premium generic .PH are probably worth at around $XXX, depending on the traffic that it is getting.

Like other domain name extensions, the only way for a domain name extension’s value to really rise is when lots of Web developments actually push it thru. I have listed some of the notable website development that are carrying the whole PH domain name right now.

ccTLD PH domain name speculation– My own Speculation… –

So basically before we actually see growth of the values of .PH, we’ll need to see web developments actually happening. I’m *purely speculating* (with my own theory) that with the elections coming in 2010 and lots of internet and online marketing by politicians, awareness will be made in the country. By 2011 – 2013, there would be loads of web startups and companies that will be developing .PH further. Most of the Premium Generic domain names are being registered. By 2014 – 2015, Registration fees for .PH should’ve dropped to a normal .COM price ($7 / year) and all premium generic domain names taken and its values of .PH in the domain name aftermarket would’ve gone up to a good $XX,XXX values. Now this is *purely speculating that web development will take off* and that the opening of TLDs will not affect ccTLDs in Search Engines.

I’m looking at 6 years before .PH really can sell at a good rate (that’s domain name only without development). But I could be wrong especially that situations and things could change. The only way right now to increase the value of you .PH quicker is by developing it and getting many Unique visits thru it, then it could really be profitable, otherwise we all got to wait and spend for the renewal fees.

India ccTLD had dropped to around $3.99 on some registrars. I still do not understand why dotPH is charging $35 per year for regs..
If only dotPH help their fellow countrymen and encourage web development by giving them a break with affordable domain registrations. With more websites developed in the dotPH, it is them who will win in the long run.
Analogy here is the cellphone plan prices. When telcos opted for wholesale pricing on their plans, usage ans subscriptions increased and more profits to the phone companies. Domains are not being manufactured with any materials like commodities.
At these prices, the registrations mostly goes to foreigners who can readily afford them due to favorable currency exchange rates but just sit around with them keeping them undeveloped.

  2. @fisher this right! I don’t understand why our own country selling its domain 150% higher than a dominating .com .net and .org extension dotPH really need to act with this to encourage web developer here in Philippines to buy it’s own extension.

I a call for an online revolution “dotPH CUT OFF PRICE MOVEMENT”
    What do you think Francis?

  3. @Fisher: That’s right, but if you search for .IN domain names, you’ll notice that most of the premium generic domain names (if not all) are already taken. People are now mining on 2 word generic keyword domains, hence the drop of price.

  4. @Fisher & Aris: I do agree that .PH is expensive (I was shocked at first as well). But If dotPH was to lower the price, then foreigners who have invested in it could’ve bought 5 times their domains. Some went as far as investing $18,000 (Thats one person only), so imagine their domination on our PH if it was lowered to .COM price. And if they do lower the price, it might be people purchasing and parking it up so the quality of the development will just be worse.

I believe that the price of .PH will only fall if most or all of their premium generic domain names are registered. But for that to happen, that means we need to develop and encourage other developers to make .PH websites popular to really get things going.
