FeedBackJar: Business Reviews Website that is neutral for businesses and consumers

Looking at most web 2.0 concepts, one of the most usual concepts are review type of websites. People can leave reviews and comments of businesses, both positive or negative, and discuss more about them. It used to be a one way thing where companies didn’t respond, but here comes a new startup that involves reviews and gives businesses a chance to respond to reviews and comments called FeedbackJar. What’s great about it…

… it does benefit both the consumers and the businesses by providing a transparent platform where businesses are given a chance to respond to comments or reviews that pertains to their business. So instead of setting up your own customer service / support, you could use their system and respond to people online.

The best thing about it is that it’s free for both business and consumers to use. It is also quite detailed that users can add product / service details and discuss it. It’s great for companies to use it as their Research and Development to make their consumers get the most out of their products.

Businesses are given their own User Profile where people can see where they’re located (via Google Maps) as well as their business details. What’s nice is that they could add their own customer representatives (of the business) so that people know that they are from the company. They’ve also included the ‘Buzz’ section where businesses can see how blogs talk about their business.

Overall, I love the concept it’s very simple yet it does a great job of being neutral to both businesses and users. Many websites are very one sided and usually sides with users (on review websites) and this does give a good balance. I also like the way they’ve kept it simple and really worked on the core concept. However, could they compete with the likes of Yelp.com? My view is that they could, the fact that they give more businesses a chance to respond to consumers is very important. What’s the point of just users saying one way views (it could be competitors or one off angry customer) but no way the company could respond to them without looking bad. There’s, however, I believe they should improve on, which is the design. I can’t quite figure out what’s missing, but it somehow feels a little dull. Web 2.0 must use more brighter and livelier colors while maintaining simplicity and user friendly elements. It just needs a little more life in its designs. I love what they made, and I hope they continue building this website up. (Special Thanks to Nick Leung for the heads up on FeedbackJar)
