Domainers react on changes in Domaining.com

DomainingSome Domainers today has expressed their outrage when Domaining.com added new websites to the feed and added a donate button. The new websites are not too directly linked to domaining but are popular websites that are mostly viewed by domainers and web developers online. These are TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb and Mashable that can really help a domainer out especially when they’re looking to develop their domains…

… What I noticed is that those who are mostly domain investors expressed outrage but for those who develop their domains, it’s something that we all can appreciate instead of going to multiple websites to get these information.

Domainers Reaction to Domaining.com– Domainers reaction to Domaining.com’s changes –

I personally think that it was great for Francois of Domaining to add these feeds but if you really think about it, the website will be bombarded with their articles soon. These non domaining websites all have professional writers that produce more than 1 article a day (lowest I’ve seen is around 3 – 4 articles a day) and can really outnumber the domainer’s articles. Domainers are not the best writers but the insights and advice they share are equally (or sometimes way more) useful for those who want to get into domaining. You wouldn’t see TechCrunch featuring more than half their feed about domaining right? It really comes down to what domaining is all about, its about investing in domains and that should just be about domain investors than TechCrunch. End of the day, if I wanted these other websites, I’ll automatically add it to my feed or get myself a RSS reader to consolidate them all. What could be a good idea though is to have a separate tab for that or to have a “optional” add these sites to your feed button.

As for the donate button, it’s not the best idea to have it as domaining got the traffic and he may need to find a better way of monetizing. Donate button just shows that domainers are not making that much and can really be discouraging to many who’d want to start. Nonetheless, Francois is running Domaining.com on his own money to serve the community, maybe the community should also give something back for such a huge contribution. But, of course, donation can’t really be answer. With the amount of new domain selling concepts, like bargain domains, being added to domaining, I’m sure he’ll make good money later on.

I’m a big supporter of Domaining and it’s really something that I read every single day. It would be nice to stay within its topics of domaining and have domaining experts than developers. Thank you so much for the contribution Francois and we hope that there could be another way we all could help you out.
