Domain Name Keywords + Quality Content = high search engine traffic

All of us content providers, domainers, web 2.0 companies and other websites want to get higher traffic. There are many ways we can achieve that, we could just write great contents or exchange links with related websites but that would take a while before your website will hit it off right? With my own research, I found that combining a generic keyword rich domain name with Quality Content will just drive traffic fast…

… When I first started blogging here in TechFilipino, I wanted to write about Web 2.0 websites. I was getting advice that my domain name should have the targeted keywords but I simply argued that content is king and continued what I do. What happened then is that it took me a long 6 months before I was getting good traffic from search engines with the term web 2.0 and domain names (when I learned about domaining). Making me work with a new article daily and targeting the keyword a lot. My mistake was that I didn’t give enough respect to domain name keywords.

If content was king then domain name is queen. Having the right keywords in your domain name could make you rank faster and this is what I’ve proven in my experience with my minisites. What was really cool was that even before developing my minisites I was already getting traffic through the search engine with no content or meta tags. Then when I added contents, my minisite just shot off the roof, getting number one in search engine results for particular keywords that drove traffic to my minisite.

It gave me roughly around 20 – 30 visitors a day without any link building or effort in promoting the site, and taking into consideration that the minisite is about 2 months old. What would even be better later on (when domain name ages) is that it will gain better SEO points and gain more traffic.

It was a good lesson for me to learn, I realized the power of domain names and how it is so important in developing a website. So the key here is the right domain name keyword and coupled with targeted content keywords and you should get better traffic. It should be about time that SME’s find out about it, it will help them level the playing field with larger corporations and give them an upper hand.
