Domain Name Investment: Premium Generic domain names value in recession

premiumgenericdomainname Domain Name Investment: Premium Generic domain names value in recessionThis economic recession isn’t actually so bad for everyone, domainers are now noticing an increased demand for premium generic domain names. Even though the prices for these have slightly dropped (compared to before the recession), domainers and companies are still prepared to invest in it to promote their products or services. It is definitely cheaper than getting yourself a billboard, TV or print advertisement

Demand for this is continuing to rise and as investors are now currently seeing the benefits that it does to them, prices in these should continue to be high and increase over time. Some of the notable recent sales in Premium Generic Domain Names are:

Internet.COM was recently sold for $18 million, it was a deal with some other generic domain names that were under their umbrella. This was bought as a marketing tool, and will definitely benefit their company.

Pizzerias.COM was sold for $20,105, if you’ve been following the sales before Pizza.COM was sold for $2.6 million. Imagine Pizzerias.COM is already plural which normally gets less traffic than the singular version, but it still commanded such a high price.

OMG.COM sold for $80,000, this has been one of the big domain name buyer, Yahoo, has bought. It is to give their celebrity gossip section (omg.yahoo.com) their own domain name. It is a good price for a keyword that is quite popular as an acronym and is 3 letters.

So why buy or hold on to your premium domain names? We’ll be seeing more and more sales in Premium Generic domain names (TLD or ccTLD) soon, it is a promising field to be in right now. So if you think you’ve missed the boat in the domaining business, think again, it might just be the right time to join. As more and more people join the internet population each day, traffic goes up and so does the value. Soon enough, domain names will soon be equal or more than TV or print advertisements.
