All of the premium .COMs are already owned by someone, most domainers have expanded to other gTLDs (Global Top Level Domain names like .NET, .INFO etc.) and to ccTLDs (Country code Top Level Domain Names). But .COM has still got the highest value and continues to trump over other types of domain names…
.COM has high demands, especially with domainers, that’s why its value remains very strong. But if all premium domain names taken, what’s there to invest?
I was reading Rick Schwartz blog post, and it gave me another view on domain name investment options. 2 word combination domain names which I’ve invested in my other projects like JoinMinds.com.
– Combine a noun with an adjective or verb –
The way it’s done is by combining a noun, an adjective or a verb. So for example the word money, it can be combined to make makemoney.com (verb) or easymoney.com (adjective).
Always focus on domain names that have high demands on the internet using the keyword research tool to find them. The advantage of this is that people don’t normally just search using one keyword in search engines, but they search with multiple keywords which could be a noun or a verb attached to a noun.
Bottomline, a 2 word combination domain name can certainly beat the SEO of a premium one dictionary word domain name. It’s a matter of really drilling down and doing deeper research on the preferred noun and trying different combinations. Stick to the .COM as the demand is there and find those unregistered 2 word combination domain names. I believe Rick Schwartz’s view on this and I believe it is the future of domaining once premium domain names become unreachable to most people.
