We’ve all been hearing about those really big success stories like Toy.COM and Candy.COM which has been inspiring us to pursue investing in domain names. But it’s not always sunshine and rainbows for us domainers, I’ve been noticing slight declines in values of our domain names. Which brings us to developing domain names…
… I think now is the best time to develop our domain names, with the domain name values slightly declining. I was actually shocked when I was checking out the results in Bido which has resulted to some domain names not getting bids or was sold for a mere $1. I’m sure it would’ve been devastating to the seller not getting the sale and being charged for placement fee. But we got to look at the other side, a huge opportunity of grabbing really nice domain names which you could then develop into a website.
– It’s the time to grow your domain names –
While buying and selling might be a headache, you could develop your domain names into money making machines with minisites (I recommend this), portals, or other web projects that would monetize thru PPC or Affiliate Marketing. Instead of parking and getting small revenues, it might be worth getting better SEO, which gives higher traffic and hopefully attract direct advertisers.
– Get residual income from developed domain names –
The point here is that choose the ones that you’re really interested in (as it will really help you push thru and be motivated through out). When the economy and domain name industry recovers your domain name might even be worth a good three to four times the value when you got it. Or it might be generating great income that you probably would keep it for residual income.
