Domain name development: How fast can ccTLD Minisites earn money?

howfastcanminisitesearnmoney Domain name development: How fast can ccTLD Minisites earn money?I’ve been developing minisites now for around 3 months, it’s been a tough yet exciting experience which I’ve learned so many things. The biggest question for most domain name investors who make minisites is how fast before I really start earning money from it? Here’s what I’ve experienced…

… I’ve first developed minisites from my premium ccTLDs to which I got to experience a whole month and a half of design and development. What I found was that premium domain names (ccTLDs or TLDs) was so good at SEO that I had visitors from the 1st week that I’ve placed the website up (without much content yet). I started making money out of it in 4 weeks time as I started getting clicks thru PPC with a Click Thru Rate (CTR) of around 8%. I’ve earned around around $1.++ in the first month.

After allowing it to age for a few months, I noticed an increase in visitors, without link building or marketing. I had visitors coming more each day, most of which came from the search engines. I had an average of 15 – 30 visitors coming each day, and I was surprised to see that I was ranking highly (page 1) in Search Engine results on certain keywords. During these past few months I was able to get around $1 – $2 per month from the next few months.

Registration costs: $25 / year

$1 x 2 months = $2
$1.50 x 10 months = $15

Total Net profit / loss (year 1): - $8

I’m looking at $17 for the first year of the ccTLD minisite  (which goes negative by $8), however this is just the first year, their SEO is not at the best stage yet. Given that in a few more months to a year, It’s bound to get greater ranking and therefore more visitors. Also, the advertisements are all purely PPC and that the advertisements is placed in supposed premium position without prior research of my audiences and I could include affiliate marketing to increase that later on. I believe ccTLD minisites should get a good Return on Investment in 2 years time, it’s just a matter of letting it pick up great SEO and original and relevant content.
