Everyone who invests on a domain name or builds a website would be very interested to find out how much their websites are worth or valued. If searched online there’s a lot of domain name or website value calculators, however, every website seems to have their own agenda or basis for their valuation which could make the valuation inaccurate. I’ve previously covered a lot of domain name value calculators before (here) and this is a continuation to the reviews of other websites that offer the same service.
Cubestat shows detailed statistics of your domain name / website. It gives you all the ranking from reputable sources which are Google, Alexa, Compete and Quantcast. It also has the stats for the lifespan of the domain name, placing the date registered to expiry date. Backlinks and indexed pages (Google and Live) are also important in their valuation which they’ve included in their calculation. It showed the calculation Daily Pageviews and derived the daily advertisement revenues based on traffic. It valued my domain name / website at $3727.38.
Formula: Domain name age, Indexed Pages, BackLinks, Ranks and Popularity
WebsiteOutlook focuses on the two most important rankings from Google and Alexa. Using the stats in Alexa, it measures the daily pageviews and advertisement revenues earned by the domain name / website. It also gives emphasis to being listed in the DMOZ (directory) which is the human edited directory so it is quality and reputable websites that are listed there. Backlinks in Google are also given emphasis in the valuation. It valued my domain name / website at $4832.60.
Â
Formula: Google Links to the website, Country (it’s unclear but it seems to be where the website is hosted), Google / Alexa Ranking, Google Backlinks, DMOZ listing
Â
Â
YouWebsiteValue’s calculation seems to be quite unclear, there’s no apparent statistics that they use (like Google or Alexa etc.). However, what’s different about it is the use of charts and graphical representations of your website statistics, which shows you a line graph of the value of your website throughout time. It also seems to be an online marketing company, that would ask you to list your website for advertisements to be placed there. The tracking feature is also great is you’d like to be alerted from time to time if the value changes. It valued my domain name / website at $577.
Â
Formula: Website History, Website Popularity, Friendliness (I absolutely don’t understand how this is derived), Interest, Recognition, Depth Potential
Â
WebValuer has a bit more unique way for calculating a value of a website / domain name (although certain figures are not too transparent). The difference from the mentioned value calculators above is that they measure the Demographics, Employees and Valuation Method. The problem I encountered was that the unique facts are all displayed as ‘hidden’, so is probably not included in the valuation (pointless, isn’t it?). It also measures links and Alexa Rank. It valued my domain name / website the highest, giving it a value of $13,222.80.
Â
Formula: Value Metric, Web Recognition, Social Metric (No information on how these are derived)
Â
Â
SiteValueCalculator is probably the most simplest out of all the value calculators mentioned above. It uses Google and Alexa statistics and the age of your domain name to derive the value of your website / domain name. It is surprising that it gave the lowest valuation for my domain name / website, giving it a value of $341.
Â
Formula: Google PageRank, Age of Domain name, Alexa Traffic, Google BackLinks
Â
Â
WebsiteFact is probably the most detailed analysis out of all the value calculators. It shows domain name details such as where it was registered to date created and expiry. It also uses statistics of different search engines, traffic / page ranks plus the DMOZ listings in order to measure the popularity of the website / domain name. It also provides a graphical representation of your website statistics from different traffic websites (such as compete, alexa etc.). There’s also a function where the owner of the website can enter their own monthly visits, page views and advertisements earnings. It valued my website / domain name at $4004.68.
Â
Formula: Domain name details, Meta Tags, DMOZ listing, Google Stats (PageRank, Backlinks and indexed pages), Yahoo stats, Live Stats, Altavista Stats, AlltheWeb Stats, Alexa stats, QuantCast stats, Compete stats, Your manually entered website monthly visits, pageviews and advertisement earnings.
Â
Â
These website / domain name value calculators are here for the purpose of helping internet users with their research and as a source of benchmarking, and as there is no one formula into how to measure domain name / website value, it is still a very unclear area. So it is best to avoid being discouraged by their values or believing them 100%, use it to embetter your website and earn more in the future.
