Credibility that Online Marketing gives to Philippines Companies
I’ve been thinking about what topic to write about when I suddenly remembered about Online Marketing and how it has helped my company (offline). One of the biggest benefits that I received from Online Marketing is the credibility that readers have given us compared to if it was coming from elsewhere, this is why I believe offline newspapers and magazines have to move online or face extinction…
… In the U.S., newspaper advertising sales have slowed down while the online advertising counterpart seems to be growing larger. Now in the Philippines, we are pretty much lagging a little bit from the U.S., it could take a few years to have that happen but the effects are slowly starting to surface.

One of the best reasons I believe online marketing is becoming better than the offline counterparts is the fact that online marketing is credible in the eyes of the reader. Here’s why:
Personal (View of a normal joe vs the big daddy)
The writer is simply talking about his day when he starts mentioning about a great product or service that a company provides, wouldn’t that sound more real to you than to read in a newspaper about a new product launch? Remember these are personal write ups that people write regardless of being paid for by the company or not.
Advertiser
Unless you could literally see the advertising banner around the website or blog then we can automatically assume that the writer’s view or opinion is not paid for by the write up. So they can freely say all the positive and negative comments about your website, and if it was positive, you’d look great to the reader.
Experts
Websites and Bloggers are somewhat known for a certain field, like some specializes in Travel, Fashion, Tech, Lifestyle etc. The point is these people are almost experts in the eyes of the readers (not all but at least a good number of them), and their views will be reflected as expert opinions as they specializes on the topic. It’s just like a food blog saying that a certain restaurant serves great burgers right? Just look at how WhenInManila is, when people see what they feature online.
Followers
These websites or blogs have followers, people who’d believe whatever they say (again a good number of them and not all). Websites and blogs publish and word spreads to their followers and spread amongst their friends and so on. These followers are like their speakers, it spreads as people tell people they know about it. So why do you think there are the Facebook Share buttons and Retweet button in websites and blogs?
I’ve been one of the biggest believers of online marketing, as a matter of fact, that’s what I did to my other Offline business. It’s given me more sales and credibility especially to the people who visit other websites or blogs.
