When Microsoft released their new search engine Bing, they seem to be doing much more marketing campaigns to really get it going. To really change they way people see them, Microsoft has launched a new website called ClubBing.com, which is a website made by Miscrosoft to let users play free online games and win prizes.
Initially, I thought of clubbing as a name for going to nightclubs or bars. As I researched I found that this domain name used to be that type of website that features nightclubs of different countries. Microsoft then acquired the domain name from the owners for an undisclosed sum and turned it to ClubBing.com (Club Bing).

At first, it really didn’t feel like Microsoft at all. The design is really lively and somehow attractive to look at (compared to how we saw Microsoft sites before). Their online games, however, seem to focus on mental (word) games (unlike the other online gaming website counterparts). What’s great though is that players who play could win prizes for the scores that they earn by playing the games. It somehow reminds me of going to the arcade where you win tickets for your performance in the game.
I’m certainly loving the way Microsoft is redefining themselves in the Online world, their seriousness into pushing Bing can be see by them acquiring premium domain names (clubbing.com) to promote their Search Engine. Their online games are still limited right now, but it seems to be a promising concept as Microsoft has credibility and could get the trust of people in getting prizes for their efforts. If Microsoft continues this, it might not be long before they could overtake Google. But then we’ll have to wait and see what Google does next.
