Many domainers would say that they all lost so much in their learning of the domaining industry, even I had to spend a lot to learn the business of domaining considering that there are a lot of expert advices and experiences available for free online. The best teacher is simply by learning thru your own experiences…
… If you read other domainers’ “what could you have done better or differently if you were to start all over again?†questions, you’ll find that most of us domainers had really spent significant amount of money before learning a trick or two. So what’s the cheapest way of learning Domaining?
A mentor that could really teach and guide your ways around domaining. A simple mentor fee of a few hundred (to a thousand) dollars could save you all the loses, embarrassments and time wastage of doing the wrong techniques over and over again. **Domainers are usually very nice and they’ll be willing to answer a few questions for free, all you got to do is ask.
There has been some mixed views whether reading other domainer’s blogs are a waste of time. I find it otherwise, reading blogs of others allows you to learn from their mistakes or experiences so you won’t do the same. You’ll find a lot of trends, insights, information on what and where to invest your money on. You just need to find a reliable website to get your reading from, I recommend going to Domaining.
This is probably one of the cheapest way to start, hand registering domains only costs around $7 – $8 (use Godaddy Promo Codes). This fits perfectly well especially if you’re looking to learn developing domains into minisites or website projects. What you need to find are high “Exact†searches of domains in Google’s Keyword Tool. Once you feel that you’ve learned a trick or two then you can start risking more by going to the domain aftermarket and buying those more established domains.
Take note, I did say the cheapest but not necessarily the fastest. There are many other techniques but it could cost you more, like how I did mine is thru trial and error. The point is that you need to conserve your cash as much as you can as you’ll soon learn that domains aren’t really easy to sell (especially being a newbie), what you need is a little patience and money to burn if you really want to stay in the game. Goodluck!
