I’m not sure how I ended up making Women related websites, searches just led me to it. I guess a lot of the topics women search for are undeveloped as there seems to be more men in the IT industry than there are women. This is what I explored and found that it actually is a gold mine.

Websites for Women is Profitable

I noticed that women related websites that we develop end up getting really good feedback, as well as, better clicks and sales. Generally what I found with my stats is that women spent more time on my women related websites than men with men related websites. The best thing about women websites is that Bounce rate was significantly lower (around 50%) and they give me the highest CTRs in my PPC and Affiliate Ads than my other websites (more than 5%).

I’m starting to see that women related websites have earned me more and is increasing each day. This might be a good direction for me to consider in the future.

Domainers

… As a domainer, the most common problem that we have is how do we update the contents of our website / minisite? While (some) bloggers are thinking, how can I make more money that what I’m making from my blog? So I think this is the best meeting point for both sides.

– WordPress is our common ground as well –

As minisites are fast becoming a trend for domainers and wordpress as a tool for this, why not expand this further and collaborate with bloggers for contents. If you’re familiar with wordpress, you can actually add other users in with limited access, these are the contributors. Contributors can then add contents on your behalf and you could approve it as you wish. Now of course, contributors aren’t going to do it for nothing, they have to be compensated. Here’s where a plugin called Author Advertising comes in.

Author Advertising allows you to setup shares with different Authors on Google Adsense (or other ad products) based on how much percentage you’d like to share with them. Setting up seems quite complicated at first but it does become more simple as you read their instruction manual.

What’s great about this concept is that it is a win-win situation for both sides, domainer‘s domain increases in value as time goes by while bloggers make money and benefit from a great domain and SEO. The only downside is that you definitely need to tie down your domain to this concept for at least a year for the bloggers to get back what they’ve put into the contents.

Typhoon Ondoy / Undoy

… So as Filipino web developers, what can we do to help is by developing a web 2.0 project which can help our OFWs and relatives abroad to air out names of relatives that they haven’t heard from or missing and post it on the website so people can help in the search or alert authorities for this disaster and others to come in the future. What I found that was a bit frustrating during typhoon Ondoy the help was too slow, not that its the government’s fault (dangerous currents, limited budget or whatever it could be…), but it’s that people were suffering and there’s not much we can do about it straight away. Looking at what could be done, we as Filipino citizens in the private sector can help in our own special ways and here’s when the idea came about.

Website

• Message board / Support Group
• Missing people pictures, details, contact number
• Tribute to lives lost
• List Phone Numbers of Barangays, Help Line, Charities (for donation)

Users

• Can discuss where help is needed in message boards
• Talk to others for moral support through the support groups
• Post pictures of friends / relatives that are missing (so others could help in the search)
• Tribute website for the Lives that were lost

Interface

• Clean and minimalist, avoid too much designs and get the basic website up and running.
• Focus on usability that anything else, expect basic users.

Unfortunately my staff won’t be able to develop as they’re stranded themselves. If any web developer is doing this website please let me know and I’ll shoulder the domain name, web hosting and help spread the word.

I’ve looked at how domain name parking looks, it’s all about just links to advertisements and nothing really useful for the visitor to see. With my previous write up, I’ve argued that development is the best way but it does cost more time and money. WhyPark has done very well (and was acquired because of its successful service), as it makes a proper website for domain name parkers. Advertising revenues, however, are still shared with WhyPark and they’re the only one that does it right now.

The opportunity lies in someone creating their own script (that has a design and logo that fits the domain name) that any domainer can use to make a website easily (Pay Per Click optimized). Letting domainers pay a flat fee per script or fixed monthly or yearly, domainers can just plug and play the script for their domains and just add their PPC or affiliate marketing accounts. You could also sell articles or web hosting on the side, a good package deal would attract domainers to join. What’s important here is to design your website right, getting the trust and respect from domainers is the key to success for this project.

What’s in it for the domainers?

• Keep 100% of advertising revenues
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO) their domain name therefore increasing its resale value
• Complete control over their domain names
• Quick Installation
• Administrator Panel
• Overview of all added domain names

What’s in it for the developer?

• Cash earned for each script sold

• Cross sell webhosting or articles easily

The user would upload a clear ID picture type photo to the website. The user would then submit their Profile, Lifestyle, Daily schedule, Activities, Routine Etc., things that you believe that could change how a user will look like in the future. The system then gives a futuristic photo of the user to the user. The photos are affected by different criteria for example if user doesn’t sleep too much then place eye-bags (with calculation to give as much details to the picture, example: 30 minutes equals puff 1/4 inch of their eye-bags), and other criteria added have a corresponding effect on the picture.

The user can then change certain criteria in their “Profiles” to see how it will affect their image. Photos and changes made are kept in record for each change that occurs, so that the user have something to compare their picture with after changes have been done.

Forums will also be present on the website, as sort of a support group where members can discuss about their images and what they could do to change it. It will also be great if professionals like doctors, psychologists, personal trainers could help other people and in turn turn them into their clients or maybe even add a consultant feature on the website where professionals could answer them in details on their questions for certain fees (example: $1 for a question).

What’s really interesting here is how revenues will be made, users are not charged for the activities that they do on the website. But once the system analyzes their lifestyle and picture, you could then start recommending to them. For example, if the client becomes obese, then if you have local advertisers in the user’s area, then you would show local gyms or sports places in the area (banners and descriptions). Or if no advertiser is present in the area you could show google adsense in the bottom that might be able to give the right ads based on the user’s location and keywords. Local adverts of consultants and establishments will be shown in relation to the user’s problems.

Unclear thoughts:

• How detailed on the user’s profiles, routine, activities, etc do you need to go?
• This would require heavy development and face recognition softwares, would this also need heavy investments to hire professionals to help with the system?
• How accurate can the photo be?
• What can we do if some users are offended?

There will be a Google map with detailed listings on the bottom of where, what and when a sale or discount is happening. Listings will depend on the IP address of the ‘user’, so if someone is from the Philippines, the website will automatically place you at the Philippines’ page.

Business establishments would be categorized into different categories (for example, restaurants, spas, jewelry etc.). Giving businesses their own web pages to announce sales / discounts and to encourage discussion between users about the brand. Users are given points for interacting in the brands page. Discussions can help brands to come up with more effective ways to attract more followers of their brands by asking potential / current customers of what promotions would be attractive.

Users can add brands to their list, this will make sure that if any sale / discount occurs they’ll be emailed about the announcements straight away. Users could also opt into following discussions of the brand thru their emails.

Announcements can be done by both users and businesses and tagged in Google maps. If users announces a sale or discount, other users must verify it before it would come out just to be sure that it is real. Users are then given points for reporting a valid report on sales / discounts, Points could be to set authority or maybe to win freebies thru the website.

Businesses will have a ‘Analytics’ type of dashboard, where data is arranged so that they could understand it easily. There will be Visitor Count, buzz generated thru blog and google search, twitter, etc (incoming links), number of clicks and visits to page, etc. Also for them to track feedback and ratings.

Revenues could be from direct local advertisements by those in the listings. Or from membership of different companies (more pages and search priority given).

Unclear Thoughts:

• Do companies have to pay to join?
• Verification of User reported news (majority vote, highly rated users?)
