I’ve always referred to my wordpress developed domain names as minisites, but are they really minisites? Today I was reading a post on Domainvestors where he mentioned about switching from minisites to blog sites. I always thought I was building minisites but maybe I was building Blog sites all along…
… Morgan from Domainvestor.TV has said that he was successful last September, one of the main reasons was the switch from minisites to blog sites. Minisites are normally defined by everyone as this informational website that has around 5 pages. But I went further and made 20 or more pages for each site, am I already building blog sites?
– Blog sites are designed more personally –
I use WordPress, which is commonly associated with blogging. My themes and graphics are customized and I tweak the theme to make it a hybrid of a minisite and a blog, by having the typical elements like the sidebar. I also take the time and effort to write contents which are somehow similar to how I blog and add pictures or videos to my posts. Please have a look at Dress.PH as an example.
I started to think that maybe minisites isn’t really what I was building, but blog sites. Is blog sites the new minisites? I certainly think so, what I believe makes blog sites different is that you see a degree of personalization involved in the designs and the way the contents are written. It’s an eye opener for me, on why my minisites are gaining traffic fast without much marketing efforts on my end (Blogs are more trust worthy than older minisites). I also realized that I searched more on making money online from blogs, as it is very similar to blog websites. Blog sites should gain more popularity in the future, what’s also interesting is the concept of “Blog flipping“.
