Back to Basics: One thing Entrepreneurs must remember about the internet

We all have our wacky and crazy business ideas, some online and some offline. Startups spring up overnight claiming to be the next big thing, but what’s really important is to understand our customers / clients / members. Ideas can be made in a second, development could be done in a few weeks and launching your new service / product could be done in a months time, but surviving the economy? That will be the question for most entrepreneurs.

Reading thru DoshDosh’s article on ‘Why Everyone uses the Internet’, it’s important to understand the basics. Like athletes, basics are very important and remembering what our business is all about. In the article, he mentions three fundamental reason why people use the internet:

1. To Communicate and Socialize
2. Find Information, Learn new things and be entertained
3. To do work, generate income and run a business

I think if we are to be successful in our web startups, we need to understand the basics. Knowing these factors we could definitely generate numerous ideas (big or small) that could serve as one of the needs of internet users. End of the day, a business needs to profit and this is definitely one way of doing so.
