I was just surfing online when I saw this website and sparked my curiosity. Aviary is like Photoshop but Online, and its free for everyone to use (except to businesses…). This is great for people who use the internet cafe or other computers when they move around.
I tried out their Pheonix image editor which is very similar to photoshop:

The user interface is exactly like Photoshop, so users who’ve used Photoshop before could use it easily. You also get most features like Photoshop such as layers, brush tool, paint, smudge, etc. The tool is, however, limited compared to the actual Photoshop tool or GIMP (Photoshop counterpart but Open sourced). The interface took a very long time to load (might be my internet connection, but my connection is 1.5 – 3mbps), and when I tried saving the file it took such (… such…such…) a long time.
After saving, its shared to everyone (theres an option for private) and its fun to see what other people have drawn (Art Simpsonized is just awesome). There’s also 4 tools available Peacock (Visual Laboratory), Pheonix (Image Editor, screenshot on top), Toucan (Color Swatches), and Raven (Vector Editor). The limit is endless with these tools, without the hefty costs. And as technology moves forward, I believe a lot of web applications will be made and maybe next time there won’t be a need for Operating systems but just a Web Browser.
