Attending Intel’s workshop on the Hourglass Syndrome, with the Demo on the Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7

Intel event 300x278 Attending Intels workshop on the Hourglass Syndrome, with the Demo on the Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7It was very nice of Intel to have invited me over to their event on the Hourglass syndrome, I was fortunate enough to be able to get their in time (considering that it’s Friday Traffic madness, lol!). I’ve always known a lot about softwares but I didn’t always know as much with regards to Computer hardware. It was a challenging topic for me but it was one that I really wanted to learn more about.

Today, I formally learned more about how processors work and I could compare one from the other and most importantly making me wiser whenever I buy new computers and laptops. Aside from the education on processors, we were able to see a demo on the 3 different processors they’re promoting which are the Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7.

The different processors were each explained using omelletes and chefs, which made it really easy and simple to understand (I can’t seem to find the video, but it’s a must see to understand processors better). They also did a demo of the 3 different types of processors, which were the Dual Core, Core i7 975 and Core i7 980x. All of them were subjected to do a same test on rendering an image thru a hardware tester, Core i7 980x was able to finish really quickly and lagging behind for a about 5 seconds was the core i7 975 and the Dual Core was just all over the place and didn’t finish till the whole workshop was already done.

From what I learned, what’s great is that the core i5 and core i7 comes with HD graphics which can play casual games nicely. So far, all I’ve used are the Core 2 Duo which compared to the i7 will be like the turtle and the rabbit. They also demoed the core i7 980x using the game Battlefield 2 Bad company, and it sure got me interested into playing that game (impressive exploding effects, realistic graphics, It’s a must play game!). I must say the intel processors have really impressed me, and it’s only today that I realized how great their products were and how much it meant to us computer users. I could sure use this when I buy a new laptop, I’m just waiting for the next line of Mac laptops to come out and I’m off to buy equipped with my newly acquired knowledge.

I’d like to thank Intel Philippines for the wonderful lunch and the informative workshop and Strategic edge for the invite.
