One thing that we’re all interested in knowing is how much is my website or domain name worth or value? It isn’t the easiest thing to calculate and could even cost you money to get a proper domain name appraisal, so what if you’re just doing it for benchmarking purposes? Don’t worry, I can recommend 3 websites that I regularly use to help you value your website or domain name’s worth that will help you…
DomainTools
One of the best free tools around the web, DomainTools will generally help you with your Domaining or website development needs. What I regularly use here is the free WhoIs function that they have.

What I like about it is that it shows detailed reports on the website. What I normally check on is first the SEO score of the website and its relevancy. Second, When and Who registered the domain name. It’s great for verification of domain name owner and to see how long the website has been registered for (credibility). So before you buy a website or domain name, it will surely help if this was checked.
PageBoss
PageBoss is more focused on the SEO side of things. It will determine all the links that is inbound to your website from different Search Engines (and even big search engines like Bing, Google and Yahoo).
– PageBoss ScreenShot –
Here you’ll find all links in different search engines and could even point you to reliable search engines that you probably haven’t joined. The way it is so detailed makes it so important, so you know somehow how much SEO work is needed.
Stimator
One of the best website valuation tools around, Stimator has based it’s figures not only in internal environments (like SEO etc.) but it’s also based externally like the stock market (like if investors are going to invest). More details are posted here.
– Stimator Website Worth Calculator –
It is one of the best value benchmarking system around, however it does have certain limitations. It gives gTLDs more points than ccTLDs, so a .COM would be priced higher than a .PH given that they’re both equally matched. No online valuator is accurate as there is no “one” basis for valuing a website or domain name, but it at least gives you a good idea on how much it’s worth.
These values are not the best values to sell your website or domain name at, it is simply the best way to benchmark your domain name or website. If you’re really interested to sell your website / domain name, then I suggest going to websites like SEDO to get yourself a recognized and a professional valuation. These tools are great for getting a rough idea on how much it’s worth, it’s a great source of motivation, knowledge and where to improve on.

hi francis,
i also use estibot. do you think it’s a reliable guesstimate of a domain’s value?
You can also try http://www.estimix.com – a free tool that provides a nice summary of the website performance. The estimation provided by estimix is the result of a complex analysis based on factors like: the age of the website, the demographic structure of the traffic, the countries where the website is popular and sources of the traffic.
